When the injured soldier was loaded into the Black Hawk helicopter, Sgt. 1st Class Gopal Singh, on his last mission as a flight medic, said a prayer. He did not think the man, who had been shot five times, was going to survive.

I felt deep empathy when first reading this story this morning as I was overcome by heart wrenching emotion as I contemplated how it must feel to be in a situation where you are gravely risking your life to the point of suicide in hopes that you might escape your life in one area for another.

Is this merely a variation of suicide where one chooses a nations border over heaven while others choose making a bigger or higher jump while the typically reported simply choose not to continue?

Like suicide with a potential of benefit as though it is a covet style life in the balance grass is greener gamble?
